Litter pickers

We are very fortunate to live in a beautiful area of the country. With green grass, open fields and starry skies at night, there is every opportunity to enjoy our environment.

Litter is terrible for our environment. It ruins the beauty of our surroundings and hurts our local wildlife.

A mantra at Bethany School is “the standard you set is the standard you walk past”. We believe it is important not just to be passively good by not dropping litter ourselves, but to be actively good. We should all work together as a community to make our environment clean and beautiful, picking up litter we see while out and about.

Great British Spring Clean

A group of Bethany School pupils spend one hour a week litter picking the school site. The pupils here are very tidy, but there is always the odd piece of forgotten litter. We find it to be rewarding, knowing that our efforts are making a difference to the environment we all share.

We encourage you to do your bit for the local community. Please be actively good: make a pledge to pick up litter when you see it! 100,000 marine animals die every year due to plastic marine litter alone. Gum, soda cans, plastic bottles and soda rings are the most dangerous form of litter to the wildlife on our doorsteps.

Please help us look after our future and take care of the world we live in. Keeping our countryside beautiful is vital for our own wellbeing, but also the future of the planet.

Remember: while we should all be aiming to recycle, at the very least we can put our litter in the bin so it can be safely taken care of.
