4 – Entrance Assessments
plus-circle

Entrance assessments are designed to provide us with a complete picture of every pupil using both quantitative assessments (CAT4 and English creative writing) and qualitative testing (school reference and interview).

Qualitative assessments provide us with valuable insights into a pupil’s personality, communication skills, and critical thinking abilities. Quantitative assessments, provides an insight of a pupil’s academic abilities. By combining qualitative and quantitative assessments, we ensure we are selecting those pupils who not only excel academically but also possess the qualities and potential to thrive in the Bethany School environment.

The assessments are made up of the following elements

Online Cognitive Ability Test (CAT4)

The children will sit an online cognitive ability test. Further details can be found here.

Creative writing paper

The children will be asked to write a creative story to give them the opportunity to show off their creative writing, vocabulary and punctuation skills.

Interview

Each child will be interviewed on a one to one basis with a member of the senior management team. This will be an informal chat for us to get to know your child and give them the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about Bethany.

Reference

We will be contacting each child’s school for a reference.

Entrance Assessments usually take place during the second week of January each year.

For in-year admissions, we can organise entrance assessments for a date that suits you.

5 – Taster Afternoon
