International pupils’ trip to London

On Saturday 11th March Year 12 and 13 international pupils went up to central London as some of the international pupils were sitting their IELTS exam.

This test (International English Language Testing System) is a pre-requisite for pupils, whose first language is not English, to get into further education in an English speaking country.

Despite the gruelling nature of the test – a speaking interview in the morning and a three hour slog of reading, listening and writing in the afternoon – we still found the time to have a delicious lunch in a Vietnamese restaurant in Covent Garden. Thank you to Theo for the excellent recommendation.

After the test was completed at 5pm, we went to Chinatown and met up with some other Bethany pupils, including Wilson, a former pupil, now studying in London. More food was consumed – this time in a Korean restaurant. Gregoire had his first taste of Korean fried chicken. It will definitely not be his last! After some shopping in the Chinese supermarkets we headed back to Charing Cross for the return trip to Bethany school.

Happily all the pupils passed their IELTS exams so now they can focus on their A Levels!
