Following on from the success of Bethany pupils in last year’s annual Chemistry Olympiad competition run by the Royal Society of Chemistry, yet another pupil has achieved an outstanding result in the 2022 competition.

The Chemistry Olympiad is designed to challenge and inspire, and is a unique opportunity for A Level pupils to push themselves further and excel in the Chemistry field. They have to demonstrate critical problem-solving skills, learn to think more creatively and get a chance to test their knowledge in new, real-world situations.

This year’s Olympiad exam was even more challenging than ever, reflected by the distribution of results which showed just how difficult pupils found it across the country.

However, thanks to a combination of great ability, hard work, and determination, Max Brown (Year 13) achieved a silver award and was, in fact, only a handful of marks away from a gold award. This is a splendid result, that officially marks him out as one of the most promising young chemists in the UK, and he can be very proud indeed of his achievement.
