Following the ISI inspection in April, which rated Bethany as excellent in pupils academic and other achievements, our mixed ability cohort of Year 13 pupils have maintained this upward trajectory, obtaining exceptional A Level results.
This year the Government has decided to align A Level results with 2019 and when compared to this benchmark, Bethany’s proportions of A* and A*-B grades exceed the 2019 results.
The magnitude of this outcome cannot be overstated as our Year 13 pupils sat external examinations for the first time this summer. The pupils worked incredibly hard, and they were supported, encouraged, and appropriately challenged by their dedicated teachers.
As usual the pupils who chose to go to university have accepted offers from a wide range of universities including University of Arts London, University of Aberdeen, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham, Oxford Brookes and Sussex to study courses ranging from Veterinary Science to Economics, Finance, and International Business, as well as a range of performing and creative arts courses, reflecting the broad A Level curriculum offered at Bethany.
Headmaster Francie Healy commented “Behind statistics are real people and knowing each pupil as well as I do, I am delighted that our Year 13 pupils have achieved so well. To have bettered the 2019 results is awesome and it is no more than these wonderful young people deserve. They have worked incredibly hard, and they were ably supported by our specialist staff who gave pupils as much additional help and advice as was required. These results reflect this, and our pupils can now go onto their preferred destinations, be that university, or the world of work, with high levels of confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.”
Arabella, pictured right in lead photo, said: I’m so grateful for all of the support from Bethany and all of my teachers. I’m so pleased that I can attend my first-choice university and I will be off to UAL in September. Thank you all so, so much!”
Arabella’s mother said: “We are over the moon with Arabella’s achievements at Bethany. All the support from the wonderful teachers has definitely paid off. She can now accept her first-choice of university places at UAL, studying Fashion Marketing. Thank you so, so much!”
Ethan, pictured left in lead photo, said: “I can’t thank my teachers and Bethany enough for the last 7 years. I am happy leaving knowing I have been able to pursue my passion thanks to the amazing support I have received throughout my time here.”
Charlotte, pictured above, said: “I feel very relieved to have received my grades and I am delighted to be going to university next year! Thank you so much for all the support I received whilst at Bethany.”
Arthur, who will now go on to study Veterinary at university in September said: “Thank you for all the help and support. I most certainly would not be in this position if not for everyone here at Bethany.”
Arthurs mother and father commented: “What can I say about Bethany? Wow. Arthur joined in Year 8 due to a lack of support for his dyslexia from his previous school and was getting left behind and frustrated. He now leaves Bethany a wonderful, confident, well rounded young man, with the A Level results that will take him to study Veterinary at university. We can’t thank you enough.”
James, pictured above, said: “Thank you for the last 7 years. Bethany has been pivotal in helping me achieve everything. I wish you all the best of luck with everything and will miss you all.”
Ben, also pictured above, said: “I’ve loved the last 7 years, what an experience! I am going to miss everyone.”
