Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Alliance

Bethany School belatedly took part in the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Friday 21st January 2022. Odd Socks Day usually marks the start of the Anti-Bullying Week in November of each year. In 2021 it took place on Monday 15th November and was officially supported by cBeebies presenter and ABA patron Andy Day and his band ‘Andy and the Odd Socks’.

Mr Healy, Bethany School Headmaster, said;

“Friday, of course, was Odd Socks Day in Bethany. Pupils were able to wear odd socks with their school uniform. Normally this takes place in November but as a School we felt it was better to separate it out from Anti-bullying week as we want to promote kindness, tolerance and respect at various points throughout the School year.

The purpose of Friday was to show respect for each other’s differences, and to raise some funds for the Anti-Bullying Alliance. I would like to congratulate the pupils on their imaginative choices of socks. I also entered into the spirit of things but mine were less visible given that my suit trousers actually go down to my shoes rather than the common fashion of just on or above the ankle!”
