We are only just back from a long summer break and already we have such a busy term filled with great activities for our pupils.
Charity walk is one of the key events that takes place at the beginning of term and is always a successful one. This walk allows for our pupils to bond as a group as well as get to know their new tutors for the year ahead. The Year 10/11 walks saw us walking around the beautiful location of Bewl water for the year 11s and a long walk from school to Cranbrook and Goudhurst for the year 10s. The weather was kind to us and the sun shone the whole way around. These mammoth walks took pupils 14miles around the gorgeous countryside that Kent has to offer. Pupils were extremely well behaved and represented Bethany exceptionally well.
Along the route we picked several good spots to refuel and enjoy our pack lunches before marching on to the finish line. Each walk took us several hours in total and the pupils set a great pace and encouraged each other when the going got a bit tough.
Of course, we cannot lose sight of why we walk and that is to raise money for charity. This year we walked to raise money for the charity Mind UK, and this is a charity which is overlooked at times. Mental health is so important and so we felt as a year group this was an ideal charity to raise money for.
Thank you to all of you who have donated money directly through the just giving page; it is not too late to donate if you have not yet had a chance!
Finally, a well done must go to Year 10 and 11 pupils for making the day an enjoyable outing and a huge thank you to staff, without whom the day would not have been able to happen.
