We are now exactly halfway through the second half of term.
The news on the COVID-19 vaccine front continues to be positive and it does look like there will be a variety of effective vaccines available so we can all return to a more normal form of existence. Whether this will be at Easter or in the Summer remains to be seen. In any event there is a light which is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel.
Our Covid testing machine continues to test symptomatic cases. The current total number of tests stands at 38 and, thankfully, all have been negative.
Years 7 and 8 enjoyed the competitive house Tug o’ War competition on Tuesday; it’s always a delight to see friendly competition taking place in a good humoured yet focused way.
I am pleased the Year 12s enjoyed the Entrepreneurship workshop which took place yesterday.
Bethany belongs to an association of schools called the Society of Heads and we hosted a Computer Science day for teachers from those schools on Wednesday.
As has become the norm, this was also a virtual event with teachers from all over the country attending. This is the second year in succession we have hosted this, and the feedback has again been exceptionally positive.
I would like to draw your attention to our virtual Year 12 parent teacher meetings which take place next Thursday and Friday between 3 and 7pm. Information has already been sent out and relevant slots can be booked. There is a Year 9 parent teacher meeting the following week in the same time intervals.
The annual school magazine, The Bethanian, should be ready next week. A physical copy will be given to each pupil and it will also be available electronically.
I shall leave you with a pearl of wisdom: “A smart person knows what to say; a wise person knows whether or not to say it!”.
Yours sincerely,
