Bethany School’s Junior Production closed on Friday evening after a successful two night run.

43 pupils from Years 7 to 9 took part in this showcase event following the theme of “The Stage”. Excerpts from “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Bugsy Malone” were laced with dance pieces inspired from Matthew Bourne’s “Nutcracker” with singing performances taken from “Blood Brothers” and some modern pop classics.

“Junior Production puts the spotlight on our younger performers and gives them a chance to shine”, director of Performing Arts Alex Bolton explained. “We are building a sustainable performing arts base where talented pupils can grow in a live theatre setting. The experience they gain here will be vital as they move into practical subjects at school.”

The showcase was performed in front of parents, staff and pupils, and was warmly received. Performing Arts at Bethany is now in pre-production for “Dancing Queen” which will open on 1st February 2024, a musical inspired by the work of ABBA. With some of Bethany’s youngest performers delivering outstanding quality in Junior Production, it is destined to be another hit for the school.
