Placing the wellbeing of pupils front and centre of our educational philosophy has ensured that Bethany pupils have remained very well supported and encouraged during these difficult times. Working in harmony with their teachers, Bethany pupils worked incredibly hard and remained focused during both lockdowns.  This has resulted in a record number of high grades emulating the success of our A level pupils two days ago.

Bethany is justifiably proud of its broad ability range, diverse curriculum, and its approach to individualised learning. These in turn make this set of GCSE results all the more remarkable.

Reflecting this broad curriculum, some of the best performing subjects were Chemistry, English Literature, French, Mandarin, Music and Physics.

The top performing pupil this year is Ethan Hill (Curtisden Green) who attained seven GCSEs at Grade 9. He was closely followed by Sophie Lumsden (Frant) who achieved six Grade 9s. Arthur Cairns (Wateringbury) obtained four grade 9s and five grade 8s, whilst William Stoneham (Cranbrook) secured four grade 9s and four grade 8s. Talented performing artist Charlotte Ensor (Goudhurst) achieved three grade 9s and six grade 8s.

Francie Healy commented: “These amazing results reflect the hard work and dedication of the pupils and staff.  I am enormously proud of every single Year 11 pupil.  They have risen to the increased challenges forced upon them superbly well. Their growth in resilience and independence has been a joy to witness.  The pupils are now excellently placed to embrace the next stage of their education and the progress that pupils make at A level at Bethany is among the best in the UK.”
