This Friday there was real purpose to the practice that was going on in Maths lessons.

We have teamed up with a website well-good.org which has been developed by mathematics teachers at Bolton School Girls’ Division.

Not only have pupils been practicing their retrieval and fluency skills, but every ten correctly answered questions on the website roughly equates to one day’s water for one person in the developing world.

Can there be a better thing to do on a Friday?

The group has 3 main aims

• To encourage pupils to practice their Mathematical skills by rewarding them with water for others.
• To instill life-long charitable values in pupils whilst simultaneously enhancing their numeracy. 
• To help alleviate hardship caused by water poverty in the developing world, through the funding of water projects around the world.

Hopefully pupils have enjoyed the fact that their work has benefited not just themselves but someone less fortunate. They can also continue to use the website whenever they like.
