Construction to begin on Bethany School’s new Performing Arts Centre

Bethany School has extremely exciting news as construction of our new Performing Arts Centre begins this summer!

Speaking at Bethany School’s Annual Speech Day on Saturday 25th June 2022, Chair of Governors, Jonathan Fenn, said:

“You are no doubt aware, either from previous Speech Days or from communications from the School, that we are planning to create a Performing Arts Centre, and that we are currently fundraising for it. The new Performing Arts Centre will enable us to provide our outstanding Music, Drama and Dance pupils with first class facilities to showcase their talents. But it will also give opportunities to all pupils to develop their skills, the ability to speak confidently and eloquently in public is an important life skill.

Our original fundraising appeal target was £800,000, with a deadline of the end of the Summer Term 2022. Right now, our appeal has surpassed our original target and is currently around £825,000. I am delighted to tell you that, thanks to this generous support from so many of you, we will be commencing construction of the Performing Arts Centre this summer. To raise such a significant sum in the teeth of a pandemic and then an economic crisis is a tremendous achievement. I think this says a great deal about the generosity and spirit of the Bethany community.

You will not be surprised to hear though that the project will now cost rather more than the original estimates so we are keeping the appeal open, with the aim of eventually reaching £1m. We can do this if every seat in the theatre has someone’s name on it. Therefore, if you haven’t yet done so, please consider contributing to this project by ‘taking your seat’. Thank you to all those who have contributed to this project so far. The Headmaster informs me that thanks to a major donor who has agreed to match funds, any seat purchased for £800 more than doubles in value to £1,950 to the School! If you need any assistance or any further information there is more information on the School website or please contact the School Office.”
