World Book Day was celebrated on Thursday 2nd March and Bethany School embraced the annual event by hosting various literary events across the school day.The day began with the arrival of teachers dressed as their favourite literary characters. Pupils were then split into teams and tasked with finding out who each teacher was – World Book Day Bingo!
A great effort from Bethany teachers meant that there were a wide range of different characters; Mr Hamilton as Wally, Mr Manktelow as The Boy in the Dress, Mrs Sturrock as Charmander, Mrs Shapland as Cruella Deville and Mr Sturrock was a Fantastic Mr Fox to name but a few.
Mrs Clough as Miss Trunchbull
Mr Reilly as Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Mr Beckham as Wolverine
Mr Cooper as The Lorax
Mrs Shapland as Cruella Deville
Classroom activities included How to Train Your Dragon 20th Anniversary Dragon Design Competition.
World Book Day bunting was up and pupils listened intently to an audio book in the library.
There were also some fun whole school activities which included a Where’s Wally Challenge where pupils had to follow clues to find and tick off ‘Wallys’ hidden around the school.
It was a great fun day full of laughs and a mutual love of literacy.
