Bethany maintained an excellent standard of education and pastoral support throughout the two periods of lockdown. This has ensured that our A level pupils were exceptionally well prepared for their summer 2021 assessments, which in turn has been reflected in outstanding A level results.
A record number of pupils achieved top grades across the board, continuing the upward trend of academic improvement in recent years. This is testament to the benefits of Bethany’s holistic approach to education which places the pupil’s wellbeing at the centre of all that we do.
For a school of its size Bethany offers an enviable range of academic, creative, and practical subjects. This enables us to provide individualised learning pathways, as well as prepare pupils to leave Bethany as confident, articulate lifelong learners.
Particular achievements of note include:
Katy Bradley, from West Malling, who achieved A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics and is off to read Medicine at the University of Cambridge.
Alexander Hill, from Marden, who achieved A* grades in Art, Business Studies, Design Technology and English Literature and will study Architecture in Sheffield.
Ashley Ma, from West Sussex, who achieved three A*s and one A and has elected to study Physics at University College London.
Aaron Monk, from Pembury, who secured two A*, one A, and an A* for his EPQ and will study Business and Management at the University of Exeter.
Benjamin Kong, from London, who secured two A* and one A, will go on to read Civil Engineering at the University of Southampton.
Gifted performing artist Ellie Russell, from Horsmonden, having achieved the top grades in Music, Performing Arts and Photography, will take up a place at The British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) to study Popular Music Performance and Song Writing.
Francie Healy, Headmaster, says: “I am exceptionally proud of each and every Year 13 pupil. They have coped magnificently well with the challenges of the last 18 months and considering they have had to remote learn for two terms out of six, this set of results is nothing short of extraordinary. I would also like to pay tribute to all of their teachers who have provided outstanding education, both face to face and remotely. The well-being of pupils has always been a main stay of provision at Bethany, and this has never been more important than in recent times. Our ethos of individual pupil care, support and guidance has ensured they are well prepared for their next steps, and I wish them every possible success in their lives after Bethany in this rapidly changing world.”
