Headmaster’s Welcome

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been great to see the sun shine so brightly during the past few days, it is a sign of Spring, growth and positivity. It is certainly needed with such negative news globally.

Year 10 pupils seem to have coped fairly well with their internal examinations this week and I hope that their results reflect their hard work.

Next week is dominated by our Open Morning on Wednesday. It starts at 9am and finishes at 11am. It is a chance for prospective parents to see the School in action on a normal morning. Please continue to spread the good word about Bethany.

Pupils in Year 9 and those new to Year 10 are attending a presentation about attitudes towards women and promoting gender equality on Thursday. There will also be a presentation on sexual harassment and risks of toxic masculinity to Year 12 that day.

I am looking forward to the Year 8 Parent Teacher Meeting on Thursday evening.

On Saturday in the Six Nations, Ireland take on France in Dublin in what promises to be a very exciting game. On paper at least, England have an easier fixture against Italy in Twickenham on Sunday. I promise to support England on Sunday if you support Ireland on Saturday.

I read this the other day that made me chuckle as I am “follicley” challenged. “Experience is the code that life gives a bald person. The person who has lived long enough to lose his hair will no doubt know a thing or two about life”. I must be very wise!

Have a good weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Latest Bethany Blog

The latest Bethany blog has been written by Mr Bolton, Director of Performing Arts at Bethany School. Following the success of Little Shop of Horrors, Bethany School’s Performing Arts department is excited to keep the momentum going with new productions, events and opportunities for pupils to shine.

Performing Arts: The Highlights
plus-circle

After the phenomenal success of Little Shop of Horrors in February, one might ask—how do we top that? Well, the answer is simple: we keep pushing forward, growing and showcasing the extraordinary talent within our school. With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that rehearsals are now in full swing for our Junior School production of 13!

Spotlight on ‘13’

Our Performing Arts team was simply blown away by the talent during auditions, making casting an exciting challenge. Congratulations to Year 7 Lily, who has landed the role of Patrice, and Year 9 Alfie, who will take centre stage as Evan. 13 is a vibrant coming-of-age musical that follows Evan Goldman, a teenager navigating the challenges of moving to a new town and making friends while preparing for his Bar Mitzvah. It’s a high-energy production filled with humour, heart, and fantastic musical numbers—truly a must-see! The show opens in June and promises to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible younger talent at Bethany.

Behind the Scenes: Our Growing Technical Team

The Pengelly Performing Arts Centre continues to flourish, thanks to a dedicated core group of pupils learning the ropes of lighting and sound under the expert guidance of Mr Ramsden. Their hard work is vital in ensuring the centre becomes more self-sufficient, and we may just be looking at the next generation of lighting and sound engineers in the making!

Upcoming Events in Music

The much-anticipated Easter Concert is set to take place on April 3rd at 7pm in the Pengelly Performance Centre. This promises to be a wonderful evening showcasing our school’s exceptional musical and dance talent. And here’s a little insider scoop—there are whispers that some of our pupils will even be hosting the event! Keep an eye out for more details.

Drama: GCSE Performance Evening

Our Year 10 GCSE Drama pupils are hard at work preparing to perform extracts from The Angry BrigadeHymnsShakers, and Bouncers. These performances, which take place on March 25th at 7pm, are an essential part of their coursework, allowing them to demonstrate their stage presence, characterisation, and projection. Parents and staff are warmly invited to witness what promises to be a compelling evening of theatre.

Dance: Pushing Boundaries

KS3 pupils have been put through their paces with some incredible choreographed numbers, while KS4 dancers have been fortunate enough to participate in workshops led by industry professionals. These experiences are invaluable, providing our pupils with insights and training that extend far beyond the classroom.

Festival of Scholars: A True Celebration

The highlight of the half term so far has undoubtedly been the Festival of Scholars. Over 20 of our Performing Arts scholars took to the stage last week, delivering performances ranging from LAMDA extracts to musical numbers and dance pieces. The evening was a true testament to the depth of talent at Bethany and reinforced how our scholars are gaining a deeper understanding of the industry and their craft.

Performing Arts For Everyone

At Bethany, we firmly believe that the Performing Arts are for everyone—not just the extroverts or the naturally outgoing. Whether on stage, behind the scenes, in the rehearsal room, or simply finding confidence in self-expression, there is a place for every pupil in our department. The performing arts offer a chance to explore, grow and develop skills that last a lifetime. So, whether you’re a seasoned performer, a budding technician, or simply looking to try something new, there’s never been a better time to get involved.

The buzz in our studios and rehearsal spaces is undeniable, and as we move through the term, there’s so much more to come. Stay tuned, get involved, and as always—keep shining!

The latest sports news from Bethany School. Spring has sprung and all fixtures this week were played in glorious sunshine as the various Bethany hockey and netball teams were all in action.

Hockey | Bethany 1st XI v Radnor House
plus-circle

Bethany’s 1st XI hockey team faced Radnor House in a tightly contested and highly competitive match. From the opening whistle, it was clear that this would be an intense battle, with both sides eager to assert themselves on the game.

Radnor House struck early, capitalising on a quick attacking move that caught Bethany off guard. Despite the early setback, Bethany quickly regained their composure, settling into their rhythm and taking control of possession. The midfield worked tirelessly to dictate the tempo, linking up well with the forwards to create a series of promising opportunities.

Bethany pressed high up the pitch, forcing errors from the opposition and putting constant pressure on the Radnor House defence. However, despite their dominance, they were unable to find the finishing touch, as the Radnor goalkeeper produced a series of outstanding saves to deny them an equaliser. A number of well-constructed attacking plays saw Bethany come close, but luck was not on their side as shots narrowly missed the target or were stopped at the last moment.

Defensively, Bethany was well-organised, with the backline showing great discipline and resilience to prevent Radnor House from extending their lead. The team displayed strong communication and teamwork, ensuring they remained solid at the back while continuing to push forward in search of a goal.

As the final whistle approached, Bethany continued to fight for an equaliser, but despite their best efforts, the match ended 1–0 in favour of Radnor House.

Although the result did not go their way, Bethany can take plenty of positives from their performance. Their ability to control possession, create chances and defend as a unit were all encouraging signs, and with continued focus on their finishing, they will undoubtedly convert performances like this into victories in the future.

Final score: Bethany 0-1 Radnor House

Player of the Match: James Candeloro

Coaches Player of the Match: Luca Chettiar

Hockey | Bethany U15A v Radnor House
plus-circle

On a wonderfully sunny early spring day the U15A hockey team travelled with hope to take on Radnor House.

Looking to build on recent positive performances and now working through a solid formation, the U15A’s had a good start to the game. Bethany moved the ball around quickly and made some early inroads into the final 3rd. As a collective however, Radnor House were individually more experienced and as the first half developed, the wave of regular Radnor House attacks from their key players (and some loose passing from Bethany) put the U15A’s defensive line under constant pressure.

In the first half, Bethany rarely got out of their own 23, apart from when Sam Lobo worked hard to chase down a through ball from the backline which almost resulted in Bethany scoring but for the final shot going astray.

Following an honest half time team talk, the U15A’s played with a lot more heart and vigour in the second half. Keeping to their solid formation and showing a more determined defence, they managed to limit Radnor’s attacking threat to just one more goal. Special mentions to; Jago Veale, whose speed off the goal line to stop the penalty corner shots is amazing; and to Henry Greig, who at centre back often showed good composure on the ball.

Bethany did manage a few attacking plays in the second half one of which almost resulted in a goal from Gus Tuson which was unfortunately stopped by a good save from the Radnor House goalkeeper.

Lucien Franklin once again showed us what an exceptional goalkeeper he is, with save after save in the first half to help keep Bethany in with a chance in the match. However, it was the way he marshalled his defence combined with more brilliant saves that helped to thwart the threat of more goals from the high number of Radnor House penalty corners during the second half. A brilliant display from Lucien.

And so onto next week!

Final score: Bethany 0-5 Radnor House

Player of the Match: Lucien Franklin

Hockey | Bethany U15B v Radnor House
plus-circle

The U15B hockey team played Radnor House on Tuesday afternoon.

Radnor started on the front foot and quickly scored after a swift passing move into the D saw their player round Bethany’s keeper, Benji Stapleton, and slot home to take the lead. With Bethany still finding their structure in the match, Radnor attacked again, and a powerful shot produced an excellent save from Benji, but the ball bounced back to a Radnor player who squeezed over the line for a 2-0 lead.

After a rocky first five minutes, Bethany settled and played more accuracy all over the pitch, leading to some excellent breaks down the left side between Jack Le Vine and Oliver Candeloro to put pressure on the Radnor House defence and keeper. Radnor House also created a few chances, but the Bethany defence stood firm and when needed, Benji Stapleton was very effective in goal.

The second half saw Bethany take control with Michael St Clair Bishop and Jack Le Vine finding space in midfield to create shooting opportunities in the D. Oliver Candeloro continued to threaten down the left side while Felix Hardie kept the defence and goalkeeper busy with attacking attempts.

Despite having greater possession and field position, Bethany could not find a way through which was credit to the Radnor House defence. The match finished 2-0 to Radnor House, but the team should be proud of their hockey efforts, particularly in a strong second half display.

Final score: Bethany 0-2 Radnor House

Player of the Match: Jack Le Vine

Coaches Player of the Match: Oliver Candeloro

Hockey | Bethany U13A v St Ronan’s
plus-circle

Bethany U13A faced Saint Ronan’s in a highly competitive and hard-fought match, with much of the play concentrated in the middle third of the pitch. Both teams demonstrated strong midfield control, battling for possession and looking for opportunities to break forward. Bethany worked tirelessly to maintain pressure, showcasing some excellent passing sequences and defensive resilience.

However, the key difference in the game came in both attacking circles, where Saint Ronan’s proved exceptionally efficient in taking their chances. While Bethany created several promising opportunities, they were either narrowly missed or met with outstanding saves from the opposition goalkeeper, who had an impressive performance between the posts. Bethany’s attacking players linked up well, but luck was not on their side in front of goal.

In contrast, Saint Ronan’s were clinical in their finishing, capitalising on any gaps in Bethany’s defence and converting their chances with precision. Their forwards displayed excellent composure, ensuring they made the most of their attacking moments. Bethany’s defence worked hard throughout the match, making key interceptions and clearances, but Saint Ronan’s relentless pressure ultimately resulted in five well-taken goals.

Despite the score line, Bethany can take several positives from their overall performance. Their teamwork, effort and resilience were evident throughout the match, and they will look to build on these aspects in future fixtures. With continued training and focus, Bethany will be eager to sharpen their finishing and turn their promising build-up play into goals.

Final score: Bethany 0-5 St Ronan’s

Player of the Match: Jasper Steward

Hockey | Bethany U13B v St Ronan’s
plus-circle

On a beautifully sunny spring day, the U13B hockey team took on St Ronan’s School.

Despite having no substitutes to call upon on a warm day, Bethany started positively with some good early passing and movement off the ball. But St Ronan’s began to get into the game more and with well drilled and experienced players, soon took the lead. Despite the best efforts of Daniel Stroude in goal, the opposition’s second, third, fourth and fifth goals quickly followed.

After an upbeat half time team talk, Bethany started the second half more brightly and produced what was the best of the 10 goals sored in the match. Following a quickly taken free hit from the back, the ball went down the left hand side where Zac Catania collected the ball. With excellent stick skills and speed, he skipped past the St Ronan’s defence and roared into the scoring ‘D’, where he struck an amazing shot into the top right hand corner of the goal. The opposition keeper had no chance. Zac showed what a brilliant player he is and can be.

Special mentions go to Rowan Blake, Callum Rae and Harry Knight, who all in despite of a tough game, kept their energy levels up as much as possible by chasing balls down and making a number of good passes.

And so onto next week!

Final score: Bethany 1-9 St. Ronan’s

Player of the Match: Rowan Blake, Callum Rae and Harry Knight

Hockey | Bethany U13C v St Ronan’s
plus-circle

The Bethany U13C hockey team locked horns with St Ronan’s this week in a competitive match.

Bethany started strongly, applying early pressure on their opponents and maintaining good possession. Their attacking play was energetic and creative, leading to some excellent chances on goal. The breakthrough came midway through the first half, with a well-worked team move resulting in a clinical finish.

Defensively, Bethany was rock-solid, with strong organisation and disciplined positioning preventing Saint Ronan’s from creating any clear opportunities. Oliver Marten was outstanding at the back, making crucial tackles and interceptions, and showing great composure under pressure. His excellent defensive work ethic earned him the Player of the Match award.

In the second half, Bethany continued to control the game, adding two more well-taken goals to secure the victory. The midfield worked tirelessly to support both attack and defence, ensuring that the team stayed on top throughout the match.

A well-earned win for Bethany, with every player contributing to an impressive performance. Congratulations to the team on a great result!

Final score: Bethany 3-0 St Ronan’s

Player of the Match: Oliver Marten

Hockey | Bethany U13D v St Ronan’s
plus-circle

On a bright and sunny Wednesday afternoon, Bethany’s U13D hockey team played at home against a more experienced St Ronan’s side.

Despite being without a goalkeeper, Bethany started the match strongly, dominating possession and creating several goal-scoring opportunities. Greg Ejiofor was at the heart of Bethany’s attacking play, consistently putting pressure on the St Ronan’s defence. However, with St Ronan’s having a goalkeeper in place, Bethany struggled to convert their chances into goals.

Against the run of play, St Ronan’s capitalised on their opportunities, scoring twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. Bethany, though frustrated by the score line, remained determined, and continued to press forward.

The second half mirrored the first, with Bethany pushing for a breakthrough while Alistair Goodman produced a standout defensive display, ensuring St Ronan’s were unable to extend their lead.

With just five minutes remaining, Bethany’s persistence finally paid off. Greg Ejiofor reacted quickly to a rebound, slotting the ball home to pull a goal back. Despite a late surge in search of an equaliser, Bethany were unable to find a second goal, and the match ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Final score: Bethany 1-2 St Ronan’s

Player of the Match: Gregory Ejiofor

Coaches Player of the Match: Alistair Goodman

Netball | Bethany U15A v King’s Rochester
plus-circle

Unfortunately, the U15A netball squad was depleted with a few key players missing this week, which meant Bethany had to make some last-minute adjustments to the line up. Despite this, the team showed great determination and resilience against a strong King’s side.

King’s started the match with intensity, putting Bethany under pressure early and preventing them from scoring in the first quarter. However, the team didn’t let their heads drop and came back fighting in the following quarters. A tactical rotation in the centre court provided more attacking options, allowing Bethany to move the ball with greater fluency and create more goal-scoring opportunities.

Evie stepped up from the B team to play at GK and made an instant impact, working well alongside Ruby in defence. Both players read the game brilliantly and made some crucial interceptions to slow down the Kings’ attack. Meanwhile, Mia found her rhythm at WA, using her speed and awareness to disrupt the opposition’s defensive play and support our attacking efforts.

Despite the final score, there were plenty of positives to take from the game. The team’s perseverance and adaptability were commendable, and the effort from every player was evident throughout. Most importantly, the sun was shining, and it was a great opportunity to gain more match experience and develop as a squad.

Final score: Bethany 5-23 King’s Rochester

Netball | Bethany U15B v King’s Rochester
plus-circle

Tuesday saw the first sunny game of the season and Bethany’s U15Bs were up against a fast and skilled King’s Rochester side.

The game started well with Bethany’s dynamic defensive duo of Izzy Hickman (GK) and Eleni Haines (GD) immediately turning over King’s first centre pass and sending the ball down to our attacking end. This continued throughout the first half but at times we struggled to capitalise on the defensive turnovers due to lack of strength and accuracy in our passing meaning King’s Rochester were able to make interceptions even when we had the height advantage. The team kept persevering though and managed to stay in touch, finishing the first quarter 3-2 and the second 7-6 to King’s.

For the second half Izzy Hickman moved into GD and picked up countless interceptions and deflections mid court, putting pressure on the King’s attackers and repeatedly forcing the ball over the baseline. We had spoken about the need for someone to fill the middle channel on the court at half time and Bea Flanders (C/WA) did a brilliant job of putting this into practice meaning there was much better flow into the goal third and more accurate passing made into the shooters. This meant at 3 quarter time the teams were neck and neck at 9-9.

Tula Cottingham (GS) made a real effort to move around her player to ask for the ball in the front space during the last quarter, scoring some mid range shots as well as being ready for the rebound when needed. Interceptions on both sides meant teams scoring of each other’s centre passes in the last quarter, but neither team were able to get the edge on the other, leaving the score at 11-11 and a draw at full time.

Final score: Bethany 11-11 King’s Rochester

Player of the Match: Izzy Hickman & Tula Cottingham

Coaches Player of the Match: Eleni Haines

Netball | Bethany U13A v Sackville School
plus-circle

This week Bethany’s U13A & B teams took on Sackville School’s A team in two shorter games.

The U13As were first up and really hit the ground running with Lily Bowler-Kemsley and Imogen Morgan doing some brilliant shooter to shooter passing and scoring in quick succession. Sackville had a big height advantage with a tall GS, as well as a dynamic moving GA, but Ella Pantony (GK) did a great job of staying with her player and jumping high to make interceptions and to force the ball off the backline. Some lovely play from Bethany left the score line 7-1 at half time.

After a short break the team came back on court with some changes made to the line up. Darcey Stone (WA) showed composure in holding on to the ball until a player became free and before making an accurate pass into the shooters. Isla Oldridge moved into GA and used space well to help move the ball down the court and into the goal circle. Some unlucky bounces off the post in the second half meant we weren’t able to add to the score line, but a continued effort from the defence still kept Sackville at bay leaving the score still 7-1 to Bethany at full time.

Final score: Bethany 7-1 Sackville School

Player of the Match: Imogen Morgan

Coaches Player of the Match: Lily Bowler-Kemsley

Netball | Bethany U13B v Sackville School
plus-circle

This week, Bethany’s U13A and U13B teams took on Sackville School’s A team in two shorter but highly competitive games.

Sackville’s A team started with a warm-up match against Bethany’s U13A, which allowed them to build some early momentum. However, when Bethany U13B took to the court, they rose to the occasion, putting in a fantastic team performance. The game was closely contested throughout, with both teams working hard in attack and defence.

Bethany found it tricky at times to get the ball into the shooting circle, as Sackville’s defence applied strong pressure. However, patience and persistence paid off, and when Darcie Vidler had the ball in hand, she showed excellent composure to convert some brilliant shots.

At the other end of the court, Ten Shaw Muxchate and Isabella Hindley put in an outstanding defensive display, making crucial interceptions and preventing Sackville from finding too many scoring opportunities. Their efforts proved vital in keeping Bethany in the lead as the game remained tight.

In the final minutes, both teams pushed hard, but Bethany held their nerve and secured a well-earned 4-3 victory.

Final score: Bethany 4-3 Sackville

Player of the Match: Isabella Hindley

Coaches Player of the Match: Darcie Vidler

Celebrating World Book Day 2025 in Style

Bethany School was alive with literary magic on Thursday as staff and Year 13 Prefects transformed into beloved book characters for World Book Day! From Dickensian London to the whimsical worlds of Roald Dahl, the school was filled with famous figures, leaving pupils with one exciting challenge—deciphering their teachers’ identities from a set of riddles.

Cracking the Costume Code

Throughout the day, pupils engaged in a game of literary detective work, using riddles to unravel the identities of their disguised teachers. Here are just a few of the brain-teasers that had pupils scratching their heads:

Mr and Mrs Healy (Oliver Twist and Artful Dodger)

An orphan boy, with a heart so pure,

In London’s streets, I seek a cure.

A clever lad, with nimble hands,

Who are we, in Fagin’s band?

Mrs Rendell (Luna Lovegood)

With radish earrings and a dreamy gaze,

I see things in unique ways.

A friend to Harry, brave and kind,

Who am I, with a curious mind?

Wellness Centre Staff (Goldilocks and the Three Bears)

In a cosy cottage, we live in the wood,

Papa, Mama, and Baby, our porridge is good.

A curious girl with golden hair,

Found our home, but who are we in there?

And the fun didn’t stop there! Pupils were encouraged to say the magic password: “Reveal your secrets.” This prompted the teacher in costume to read their riddle aloud, offering an extra clue to those still stumped.

Reading Fun for Everyone

This year’s theme, ‘Read Your Way’, encourages pupils to explore reading in their own unique styles. A weekend challenge has been set, asking pupils to take a ‘reading selfie’ featuring them enjoying their favourite book. Whether curled up at home, reading to a sibling, or even sharing a story with a pet, every entry will earn a Level 2 Merit. Please submit your photos via your Tutor Group Team.

Football Meets Fiction

In addition to the literary fun, Bethany School joined in ‘The Great Big Footy and Booky Quiz 2025’, a National Literacy Trust event combining football and literature-themed questions. While the official livestream was at an awkward time for UK schools, teachers ensured that Key Stage 3 pupils could enjoy the quiz during their English lessons via YouTube catch-up.

The quiz offered a fantastic opportunity for teamwork, participation, and friendly competition, with merits awarded for correct answers and enthusiastic engagement.

Guess the Teacher’s Favourite Book

The library hosted an exciting quiz called “Guess the Teacher’s Favourite Book,” created by our talented pupil librarians: Izzy, Isabelle, Immy, Alice, Bea, Hugo, Will, and Mia. They spent several days gathering information from the teachers and then they put together a fantastic display in the library. Every participant earned a merit and KRS points.

During lunchtime, everyone had the opportunity to get creative by doodling pictures of their favourite book covers, or by writing a brief description of a book they’d like to write; with an accompanying picture, make book fortune tellers, or they could test their knowledge with ‘guess the book’ quiz using pictures as clues.

A Feast Fit for Book Lovers

The wonderful Bethany catering team, Holroyd Howe, got into the spirit of the day by preparing a Roald Dahl-themed menu for lunch. Pupils tucked into ‘The Twits’ Bird Pie, followed by a Matilda-inspired dessert and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed treat. The delicious literary-inspired meal was most definitely a hit!

Bethany School’s celebration of World Book Day was a roaring success, filled with creativity, curiosity and a shared love of reading. Whether through solving riddles, snapping a reading selfie, or testing literary knowledge in a quiz, pupils and staff alike embraced the joy of storytelling.

Matty has scored high level effort across the board this week. Always conducts himself with courtesy and kindness, shows great perseverance when meeting new challenges. A more than worthy recipient of Pupil of the Week.

KS4 Pupil of the Week is Eli

Eli has taken massive strides in improving his academic and social ethic, using his social time wisely and attending GCSE subject clinics to further improve his subject knowledge and revision skills. Well done, Eli!

EAL Pupil of the Week is Julius

Our English as an Additional Language star for this week is the erudite and fluent Julius from Switzerland. Born of German and Australian parents, he is from Switzerland and previously went to school in Austria.

Julius has only just joined Bethany in Year 12, but has already impressed staff with his intellect and ability in English. Though he started here by studying Maths and Chemistry, he decided, as improving his English was his focus, to swap to Business and History. No mean feat when you consider this is advanced level study.

When not challenging himself academically, he enjoys playing chess.

Julius is enjoying boarding as staff and pupils are friendly and the variety of weekend activities is interesting. He also likes the food, particularly breakfast. I am sure that Julius will go from strength to strength in his English development.

– Mrs Rendall-Jones, Head of EAL

Orchard Boarder of the Week is Elias

Elias has been mightily impressive in Finance recently, achieving an A grade in the exams just before half term, and he’s working like a Trojan to keep on top of deadlines and targets currently – well done. He’s also the winner of the ‘world’s cheesiest grin in a photo’ category at this year’s Oscars.

Year 7 Making Waves in Art

With the image of the wave as the backdrop, 7L collaged using a variety of recycled materials, including plastics such as crisp packets and bread bags. The concept was to highlight the environmental impact of plastic pollution in the ocean, and to develop the pupils’ art skills of colour and collage.

Each pupil completed a land based animal and a fish or dolphin to populate the land and sea. The finished project displayed a colourful and (hopefully) thought provoking piece of art.

Pupils had the opportunity to share the results of their hard work by presenting their findings to each other in the newly opened Pengelly Performance Centre. Although not all seats were filled, the shift from a traditional classroom setting to the more formal and spacious auditorium added an exciting sense of purpose and importance to their presentations.

The change in environment seemed to inspire the pupils, as the quality of their speeches and the way they presented their work to their peers was nothing short of outstanding. It was evident that the new space created a more professional atmosphere, encouraging the pupils to elevate their presentations to a higher standard. The experience was both empowering and motivating for them, and they now eagerly anticipate returning next week to hear the final few pupils present their work.

Jonathan, who joined the Sevenoaks Sea Cadets five years ago, expanded his involvement by joining the Tunbridge Wells and London Area bands last year. His dedication to the Sea Cadets has led him to participate in various prestigious events, including the London Lord Mayor’s Show. It was through the London Area Band that he received the special invitation to play at Buckingham Palace, a momentous occasion in his cadet journey.

Throughout his time in the Sea Cadets, Jonathan has participated in numerous activities, including offshore trips, sailing, and rowing competitions. His training has also covered advanced courses like meteorology, equipping him with valuable skills. Jonathan’s experience highlights the diverse opportunities and personal growth that come with being part of the Sea Cadet Corps, and his performance at Buckingham Palace was a testament to his hard work and commitment.

An excellent opportunity and achievement. Well done, Johnathan!

The Bethany Pancake Race is always a highlight on pupils’ calendars and this year was no different.

This year, against the backdrop of the new Performing Arts Centre, 16 pupils had to complete a relay race which involved running with a pancake, flipping a pancake and eating a pancake before passing the frying pan to the next member of their team.

After all the crumbs had fallen, the house with the fastest appetite and finishing first was Speakers, followed closely by Roberts in second and Kiplings finishing the race in third.

Well done to all!
