Music Scholar hosts live busking session from home

“In a time where we feel more isolated than ever, it’s so important to find ways to connect with one another. Music is an amazing way to do that.”

Bethany Music

Over the past couple of weeks we have seen countless famous musicians putting on live concerts directly from their living rooms in the form of social media live sessions. The intention of these sessions has been to bring people together in this time of mass isolation and unite people through a shared love of music. Well it would seem that these concerts are doing more than this as they are now inspiring a new trend throughout many up and coming musicians. More people than ever are performing directly from their living rooms, kitchens, and gardens than we would have ever thought possible just a few weeks ago.

One of our very own Music Scholars, Archie, is the latest to join this trend by hosting his own live busking session every Saturday at 5pm on Instagram live. During these sessions, Archie has been playing covers of many well-known classics and has been generally lifting the spirits of all those who join the session.

“As a Music department, it is incredibly challenging to deliver our subject right now in a way that inspires our pupils on the level it usually does, so we’re desperately looking for any opportunity we can find to share music with one another and motivate our pupils during a challenging time. Archie is the ultimate embodiment of the very ethos we promote within our department and we couldn’t be prouder of him for taking it upon himself to put something like this together.”

Jonny Brinson, Head of Music
