The GCSE results obtained by the Year 11 pupils at Bethany once again demonstrate how happiness and success can and should go hand in hand. GCSE grades awarded this year were aligned with pre-Covid levels and our pupils rose to this challenge, achieving record results by working diligently and consistently throughout the two-year courses.
We are delighted with an overall pass rate of 94%, with the top performing pupil this year being Sam K who obtained seven grade 9s and three grade 8s. He was followed by James D who obtained four grade 9s and four grade 8’s.
Bethany is proud to offer a varied curriculum at GCSE. A new state of the art Performing Arts Centre will be opened in October this year reflecting this breadth of provision. Academic outcomes at Bethany continue to increase and this year Dance, Drama, English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Media Studies, Physics, Physical Education and Spanish have 100% high grade pass rates.
The best education involves a triangular partnership between teachers, parents and pupils and when all three parties work in harmony outcomes are optimised. Using this approach has meant that our Year 11 pupils achieved results well above national norms although their ability profile is in line with the national average.
Francie Healy, Headmaster, commented “Bethany is a community which supports one another incredibly well and these record-breaking results are a reflection of the unity of purpose demonstrated by staff, pupils and parents alike. Our pupils are now exceptionally well placed to embrace the next stage of their education in an increasingly competitive world.”
Pupils and parents alike commented on their feelings and about their time at Bethany School;
