The Bethany School enrichment programme is inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme’s philosophy of exploration. More specifically; physical, skill based and volunteering activities.
Two afternoons a week, all pupils have the opportunity to take part in a range of supervised activities both on and off-campus.
This dynamic programme offers a plethora of activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Below is this weeks round up of just a few of the many activities happening at Bethany every Wednesday and Friday.
For those who thrive in a team environment, the team-building sessions are a standout highlight. These engaging activities not only encourage collaboration, problem-solving and leadership skills but also help pupils build stronger friendships, develop trust and enhance their ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
Meanwhile, the bushcraft skills classes offer an exciting outdoor adventure, where pupils immerse themselves in nature while learning essential survival techniques. From mastering the art of shelter building and fire making to understanding the fundamentals of foraging and navigation, these hands-on sessions encourage self-reliance, resilience and problem-solving. Beyond the practical skills, pupils develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world, gaining confidence as they work together to overcome challenges in the great outdoors.
The Football Excellence Pathways programme caters to football enthusiasts, providing professional coaching and development opportunities for aspiring athletes. Whether aiming for fitness or a potential future in football, pupils receive expert guidance and structured training from professional coaches and talent scouts.
Additionally, our onsite gardening sessions provide pupils with a hands-on opportunity to cultivate their green thumbs while gaining valuable knowledge about sustainable farming, plant care and environmental stewardship. Under the guidance of experienced staff, pupils learn how to grow their own fruits, vegetables and flowers, understand the importance of seasonal planting, and explore eco-friendly gardening techniques such as composting and water conservation. These sessions not only provide a sense of responsibility and patience but also encourage a deeper connection with nature, promoting well-being, mindfulness and a lifelong appreciation for the environment.
The diverse mix of activities helps pupils build valuable life skills, from leadership to resilience, all while enjoying hands-on learning experiences in a fun and engaging environment. It’s ultimate aim is to enrich both minds and spirits!
