Rocket launches carried out from home

The Covid-19 outbreak has not deterred Mrs Pack’s Design and Technology pupils in Year 8!

At the end of the Year 8 termly rotation, pupils usually get the opportunity to launch the rockets they have been planning and researching for weeks. Pupils spend the lessons leading up to the launch researching, creating paper test rockets and carrying out gravity trials such as the egg drop challenge. They develop DT processes in research, product design, feasibility, creating and then evaluating the product. With the whole country on lockdown, Mrs Pack had every faith her Year 8 pupils would try their very best to make and launch their rockets in whatever inventive ways they could. In many cases older siblings and parents were recruited as ‘launch teams’.
