In preparation for the Lunar New Year on 29th January 2025, Bethany boarders hopped on the train for an exciting trip to London’s vibrant Chinatown. This year, the celebrations honour the Year of the Snake, and pupils were eager to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere and culinary delights.
The journey began with a train ride into Victoria Station, followed by an iconic London experience: a ride on a double-decker bus. As the bus made its way through the city, pupils took in famous landmarks such as Green Park, The Ritz and the bustling lights of Piccadilly Circus.
Upon arriving in Chinatown, pupils were greeted by a lively scene. The streets were adorned with vibrant red lanterns, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Pupils explored the area, sampling authentic Chinese cuisine at some of the area’s renowned restaurants and browsing specialty supermarkets for unique treats.
With bags brimming with delicious food and souvenirs, the group headed back to Victoria Station for the return journey to Bethany. The day was a perfect blend of cultural discovery, celebration and fun, offering an early taste of Lunar New Year festivities.

A lovely day out and certainly one to remember for the pupils.
