On Wednesday, Mr Hamilton and seven Tech IT Sixth Formers visited to the Bett Show at Excel, London as part of the employer engagement section of the course.
The Bett Show is the first industry show of the year in the education technology landscape, bringing together over 800 leading companies, 103 exciting new EdTech startups and over 34,000 attendees. People from over 146 countries in the global education community come together to celebrate, find inspiration and discuss the future of education, as well as seeing how technology and innovation enable educators and learners to thrive.
Many well-known EdTech companies appear at the show including Microsoft, Google, HP and Lenovo. It is also a chance for the pupils to engage with employers and network with them which could lead to potential careers in the future. The pupils are able to see the tech in action, ask questions about how their products work or the systems that they are using. This can also help with the coursework elements of the subject. A number of the pupils also enjoyed taking part in the escape room, run by Tablet Academy and were second-best on the day!
The pupils arrived back to school with a bag full of goodies from the event and a number of potential interests and opportunities.
J’nique said: “The event gave a great insight into how technology is being shaped in the education sector and how it could help teachers and future pupils.”
Lucas said: “The day was very interesting but I definitely enjoyed the free goodies!”
