Bank of England and Lloyds of London visit

On Tuesday 21st January twenty Year 12 Enterprise related pupils (A level Business, A level Economics, Level 3 Applied Business and Level 3 Finance) went to London for the day to visit both the Bank of England and Lloyd’s of London to consider some common denominator topics across all four specifications as well as sample the ‘city lifestyle’ for the day!

At the Bank of England, we had a guest speaker talk about its role as a central bank as well as its importance to our economy, emphasising their main objective in ensuring trust and confidence in the financial system. They then completed the museum tour (which is free of charge for those eager parents out there!).

We were then hosted for lunch by MGAA via a contact from ‘The Bethany Network’. Pupils enjoyed their boardroom, the skyline view, as well as the spread of food provided!

Afterwards, we had a guided tour of Lloyd’s of London through some current underwriters, organised by MGAA, where annually £26 billion of insurance premiums flow through.

The pupils were then encouraged to consider a career in the industry, with more and more being recruited via apprenticeships.

We look forward to providing the same ‘city experience’ for next year’s Y12 Enterprise related cohort.
