Alumni

We are proud to have a thriving international community of alumni who play an active part in the life of Bethany School.

The Old Bethanians’ Society

The Old Bethanians’ Society was established in 1887 soon after the founding of Bethany School. The Old Bethanians’ Society welcomes former pupils from all over the world and aims to link the present and past, continuing a rich history and tradition built over 130 years.

Right from the outset, the object of the Society was stated to be to ‘strengthen those ties of friendship formed at school, and which it is a matter of great regret that the fact of leaving school should sever’.

Bethany: More Than A School

At Bethany, we’ve always believed that our school is more than just a place of learning—it’s a foundation for lifelong connections and cherished memories. This belief was beautifully affirmed in January 2025 as we welcomed back the Class of ’95 for a heartfelt reunion that celebrated not just their shared past but the enduring friendships and strength of community that define the Bethany spirit.

Dan Rookwood and John Fenech, who are both part of the Class of ’95, recount their recent reunion.

The Bethanian

The Bethanian is the School’s annual magazine and brings together all the varied activity that goes on in the course of a school year.

Our Bethanian digital archives go back as far as the first ever edition, published in 1882.

Reunion Day and AGM

Each year, the School’s annual Speech Day, Leavers Day and Reunion Day takes place in June. This is an opportunity for Old Bethanians to join staff, pupils and parents as we celebrate the achievements of this year’s Leavers’ and welcome them as Old Bethanians.

All Old Bethanians are warmly invited to attend Reunion Day, which includes The Bethanians’ Society AGM at which the President and Committee are elected for the following academic year.

Please email hmsec@bethanyschool.org.uk to find out more.

Presidents’ Dinner

Held in the autumn at a prestigious London venue, the annual Presidents’ Dinner is one of the most anticipated highlights of the Bethanians’ Society calendar.

Bringing together members, friends and distinguished guests for an evening of fine dining, speeches and warm fellowship, it never fails to create lasting memories.

Year after year, this elegant occasion proves to be one of the Society’s most popular gatherings — a celebration of tradition, camaraderie and shared history that is truly not to be missed!

Getting Involved

Bethany continues to flourish with both boys and girls and is always seeking new pupils from all over the world. Alumni support to introduce prospective parents and pupils to the school is very welcomed.

So, we’re always interested in hearing from past pupils and pupils of the school, so please get in touch with your news and views by contacting our Alumni Coordinator, Andrea Discombe, by emailing hmsec@bethanyschool.org.uk. The Alumni Coordinator is also the first port of call to arrange a school visit or for any information on the Society’s events.

Alumni can also help and support Bethany School with any fund raising activity, particularly in today’s environment where costs continue to increase. If you would like to help or offer support in any way, please contact the Alumni Coordinator.
